Summer Road Trip ‘08
Day Five: Psalm 5:8
Listening to Wrong Directions

“Lead me in the right path, O LORD, or my enemies will conquer me. Tell me clearly what to do, and show me which way to turn.”

Surely it’s happened to you; it has to me! I’ve asked for directions only to be misled and end up where I never intended. Sometimes people misdirect my accident, it’s the ones who do it on purpose that distress me.

We’re traveling through distrustful territory in Psalms 5. All around us are proud, wicked, lying, foul mouthed people “who cannot speak one truthful word” (vs.9). Sure they will flatter us, but their goal is to trap us in their ungodly lifestyles. Don’t go there!

God promises to bless those who follow His godly directions. He leads, we follow. Our LORD gives clear direction, we must be willing to listen and obey.

One side point: we tend to seek the wrong kind of direction. We want to know the destination instead of the route. When we trust God in the moment we will find safety in the future.

Enjoying the Journey!
Pastor Paul
