Summer Road Trip ‘08
Day Seventy-three
“Envious Detour””
Psalm 73:3
“For I envied the proud…”Last week I stood at the edge of a cliff; thousands of feet below me lay the Yosemite Valley. It was both awesome and scary. I had to back away.
There are times in my life when I get close to the edge of the cliff called envy. “I came close to the edge of the cliff…For I envied the proud…” (vs.2-3) Then I backed away. Once I saw how the proud lived I realized how precarious such cliff-dwelling actually was.
Psalm 73 is a sad description of proud, wicked people. Another way to say it is, if you want to know what God really things of wealth, just look at who He gives it to most often! (read the Psalm)
I’ve learned “how good it is to be near God!” (vs.28)
I’d rather live safely near God than with all the wealth in the world – living on the edge.
Enjoy the Journey
